noticed on the 06/07 models that this is an issue with FI systems... What is it exactly?

i dont know how it is in the new S2000s, but in my 06 Si, it can get pretty annoying when the DBW computer does what it "thinks" you want to do. for example, when you're feathering the throttle, it'll do it like 4 times then it just won't respond to your feathering anymore. pretty annoying at times. when there's a throttle cable like in earlier S2000s, the throttle body is doing exactly what your accelerator foot is telling it to do.

the dbw system in the s2k is superior. its nothing like the dbw system in the si or in any other car (i dont know about the nsx). people have the notion that dbw=slow response, but not the s2k. none of my friends knew my s2k was dbw until i told them. they didn't believe me until i popped my hood.

The only car with DBW I've driven is a BMW X5 and that was extremely poorly implemented. If you were stopped at an intersection or something, you could floor the gas and literally nothign would happen for a good 1.5 seconds. Then all of a sudden it would do whatever you wanted, and harshly.
I'm happy with my "old" technology of a throttle cable.
Oh, and you still can have stability control without DBW, it's just implemented differently, usually via controlling of the brakes on the rear wheels, rather than control over throttle input.
