S2SaV,

Good question...I was wondering that myself.

Hopefully when the oil "burns"...it "burns" clean without any type of deposit or residue.

Good question. Over the last 3000 miles or so (I have 13,000 miles on the car), mine has burned about a quart of Mobil 1 synthetic. It seems to be burning very clean, the oil looks just like it did almost when I put it in but the oil level is lower. I think this is very normal but......

How is synthetic oil supposed to burn? I don't drive my car all THAT hard and this is the first time using synthetics

Mineral oil is petroleum based just like gasoline....the oil burns as a fuel....just like gasoline....

But what happens to gasoline when it burns? Can you say oxidation.....(Carbon Monoxide).
