the idea behind the making of the s2000 was to celebrate honda's 50th year racing anniversary. the car is supposed to incorporate all the things that honda learned in the past when designing race cars, these things were all implemented into the design of this car.

What RazorV3 said. Plus, it was built for the curvy mountain roads and drives in the country and not for a straight quarter mile track or street racing. It was built for autocrossers. It is a "no bones about it" roadster. It is a sure footed as a slot car. It's the most fun you can have in a car next to drivin high revving F1 car. You have to drive one to really understand what it is like.

She's not a drag-car...
She can't haul the family...
She won't win all stoplight encounters...
She can't carry more than a week's worth of luggage for two ...

She IS a street-legal go-cart...
She DOES make you glad to see the "S-curves ahead" sign, riding on rails like she was BUILT for the road you're on...
She WILL put a permanent grin on your face every time you get behind the wheel and resist the urge to shift until 9k...
She WILL teach you respect on any autocross course, and give you clues on how far you can push her before she gets away from you...
She DOES make you appreciate every "twisty detour" you can find to spend more time driving her on your way home, to work, or just to grab a few groceries...

She's the only car I've owned to date that still makes me feel as giddy as the day we bought her. Every time I take her for a drive, I realize how much FUN she is to drive. She is a TRUE roadster in every sense of the word. For all her faults (spartan interior, crappy stereo, low torque, cramped interior if you are taller than 5'10", etc.), she excites with all the things Honda did right (50-50 balance, 9K redline, VTEC kick, road-hugging suspension, awesome engine sound all the way to redline, etc). My wife and I BOTH love driving her and will likely fight over who gets to drive for years to come

Everyone here who told you about her can go on and on about what the "idea" behind her was; the best advice is to drive one for an afternoon, top-down, blue skies on an open road with plenty of twists and turns...she'll take your breath away and then you too will be "hooked" and get the "idea" behind her.
