I like to post now and then of my over all experience with my 2004 S2000. Bought new and driven out of the showroom by me with 75 miles on it.
No issues of any type. I have 73000miles on the car. I have gone through tires, one set of front brakes, a fan belt, new fluids, a couple of valve adjustments and a couple of interior trim items that wore out. Also changed all the fluids a couple of times....all of them.

Car has always gotten 21-23 mpg in normal every day use and 28 plus on trips of over 100 miles. there is allot of traffic in the sf bay area and hills that effect the mpg. TOP down most all of the time!

It's such a pleasure to drive, it has it's moods, in that some days vtec seems to kick in harder than other days. There is a minor heat sink type bog when hot out and the a/c is on. The clutch and all the other stuff is original.

Orginal crap radio/cd still works. I put extra speakers in behind the seats and disconnected the seat belt chime. That's it.

I continue to think about another 911 for me, a used carrera 2 or 4 cab.... and then I think why? I do all my own maintenance, never used a drop of 10/30 wt oil. use stock filters and parts. K&N filter added when new. The s2000 is appreciating in value at this time as well. They are still a rare site even in the bay area.

I hope your experience has been as good as mine.

Great to hear - bought my 04 when it was 2 years, 6,000 miles old. It now has 45,000 and I do all the maintenance stuff as well. Only thing that has "broken" on the car is the clutch master cylinder started leaking. Cost me $100 to buy a new OEM unit from Honda and installed it myself. I just did a 10 year major maintenance overhaul which included oil change, valve adjustment, new spark plugs, coolant change, tranny / diff fluid, new brake and clutch fluid, SS brake lines, caliper rebuilds, and a few other little things. The car still runs and looks as good as new. Love it! Enjoy your car and the nice scenery in the bay area.

Its truly amazing how timeless these cars are. Name another car with this performance that is this easy to work on. I'll wait.

This is a good thread! Have had my 2006 for 8 yrs now. Has 44,000 miles. The thing that amazes me the most is that I drive this car harder than any other car I've ever owned, yet it has never consumed a single drop of oil. My miata, corolla, forester all used some oil at some point. I've only done maintenance such as all fluids/filters and a set of tires, thats it! I have been tossing around the idea of getting a valve adjustment (I don't notice any unusual behavior out of the engine currently). OP, did your valves change much with the adjustments?

*EDIT* Forgot to mention, I'm on my 4th windshield due to my S2K having the uncanny ability of attracting massive rocks/road debris!

This is great stuff. When I adjusted my valves I found the idle smoother and the engine seemed smoother, perhaps a tad more low end torque and of course I felt better!
I did the 10 year stuff last a year ago june. plugs, fluids, fan belt, coolant change, etc... all within my ability as a delatante mechanic. this is the best car I have owned and the only car out of 27 I have owned for this long (like over 10 years!). As much as I want another 911 i continue to wonder "why", every time I see one I lust after it and will get one, except I can't justify getting rid of the honda, there are no issues.

What I wish for , and it would have to be a simple fix, like modfry's top straps, is a quieter car on the freeway. i can't hear the blue tooth on my nav so i don't use the phone in the car, i miss that feature. no car is perfect, this one is close, perhaps the best part is that i continue to be infatuated by the looks and the drive!

I hear you about Porsche. Every so often I think about Cayman S's, but really, its a ton more money for something heavier and 60+ more hp and a big pain in the @ss to maintain. Just can't justify it. My DD (Forester) is quiet, so when I drive the S I wanna hear some noise! I did the UK mod to it earlier this year and wish I had done it 8 yrs ago! After all this time, you can do something simple as theUK mod and get a whole new connection with this old beast.

That's one of the most hilarious things I've read all week.

Your wish has been answered. I did an easy (although time consuming) install of NVH (noise vibration and harshness) materials that changed the sound profile. You can hear the engine scream but at highway speeds (top up) I can truly have a normal conversation with my wife as if it were over the coffee table. No drone. No harsh freeway noise. No tire noise (Pilot SS). Radio sounds much better and I use it at much lower volume. Obviously top down you get more noise but you don't get it from the floor, transmission or behind the seats.
