What's the point of running anything higher than 93 if your car doesn't have FI...aside from wasting money?

Hi:
Quick, someone find the Gasoline FAQ. Running with a higher octane only helps in increasing power by lowering the weight of your wallet.

Actually that's not bad at all for Europe, especially for high grade gas.

I personally think that the gas tax structure in Europe is smarter than what we have here, it encourages efficiency and helps constrain the damage to the planet.

The oil costs pretty much the same for everyone, it's just that here in the States people seem to think we have a "right" to cheap gas. I think we should add a Federal gas tax of $2 per gallon and send all that money directly to educational systems.

But that's just me. I'm sure plenty of people here will disagree with me, and this is pretty o/t. If you want to flame, start a new thread in O/T and I'll respond there... or PM of course.

BTW if anyone thinks this attitude is at odds with being a driving enthusaist... I don't think so. Sure, I enjoy being able to drive cheaply. But there are other priorities in the world too. Just trying to find the right balance. I drive an S2K, so obviously I'm willing to pay for my driving enjoyment.

Jeez, can I ramble or what? totally o/t, sorry, hope not to annoy or offend anyone.

have a nice day!

Hmm, definitely something to think over. So what is the difference with race fuel? And is Sunoco basically just scamming people? Isn't it possible that if I use 100 octane gas, the ECM will adjust timing etc to take advantage of it?
I think the second paragraph answers your last question.

Reread it, I guess it pretty much does. I guess what I'm really wondering is, how far will the stock OEM ECU go in its adjustments? What is the highest octane it can take advantage of? Would it need a custom program to take advantage of 100 octane?
