Default What to look for in used 2002 S2000

I have had several people offer to sell me there cars.

What things should I look at, is it worth paying Honda to do a prepurchase inspection?

Thanks

What are people paying for used 2002 S2000 in great shape?

Thanks, and thanks to the three that have offered your cars for sale, I am thinking this is the better way to go then new.

I would say it would depend on the price ?? What are theyasking ? A new 2003 can be had for just under $30k from numerous dealers noted on this forum. New also means new warranty and a car that incorportates lastest TSB's.

For me the price would have to be down right "cheap" "fire sale priced" to risk buying a used one, as we all know how much fun it is to hit the pedal on this machine.

-Warranty transfers to second owner, but not third, I believe. Make sure you are #2 and not #3. Also, that will affect you're own asking price when time to sell.
-I paid $29k for mine in great shape, 3,500 miles and have had no surprises since the purchase (but I think mine is an expection and not the average price. I got a very good deal, imo, and I bought it in the beginning of the summer). btw, I have doubts you're going to find a 2003 under $30k, as stated above.
-If sellers are board members, I'd suggest doing a search for all their posts to get an idea how the cars were treated (i.e. tracked, modded), when it was purchased, etc.
-Ask if all the TSBs have been made current.
-An inspection is always a good idea but could be a needless expense. Only you can determine what your peace of mind is worth. '02s should all still be in near-showroom shape, body and soul.

What to look for in used 2002 S2000? .................. Some mileage! (j/k )
Seriously, this is not just your run of the mill Camry or Accord. There are a lot of expensive parts on this car that can break. You often hear people tell others on this forum, "drive it like you stole it". That's all fine and good but do you really want to be the next owner of such a car? Even if the car has a transferable waranty, do you want it in the shop all the time because the last owner beat the crap out of it? Get a professional to do a complete diagnostic on the one you are set on buying. It may save you a world of hurt later.

Most of the ones I've seen have shown up in "Market Place", "For Sale". But there should be a sub-forum within that forum dedicated to private sales. Something like "S2000 4 sale or wanted".
