I'm looking at used S2k's the cheaper 00-01's. Are there any common problems that I should be looking for?

 

check the rear window condition, find out if all tsbs have been done (i would have a dealer check out the car and ask them that specific question), also check the auto-down driver's side window (a tsb is out for this i think), make sure that the plug recall was done, and that all plugs are tight... check the clutch decel for noise (tsb for this too).
i think a dealer check where you ask them to check on the tsb status is a good way to get most of the issues checked out (assuming you have a competent dealer in your area- local folks can comment on this- and if they dont, post this q in your local community forum, on this board).
