Default What makes a good sounding exhaust?

A quick tech question here: I am looking to have a custom exhaust fabricated... was wondering what really makes one exhaust sound different from the other. ex: A Tubi versus a Magnaflow.

Is it the metal - the canisters - the baffles - the bends... just curious...

Thanks to anyone who has some experience with this!

I have a custom single Apexi N1 exhaust. Its angled and it sounds great! Make sure all the bends are even with the width as the rest of the exhaust or atleast close. It also depends on the canister/exhaust u have too. Id go with Magnaflow if u are deciding between those 2. Also, make sure you go to a good welding place if u are doing any welding. They also can coat the welding spots so it doesnt rust over time! Make sure u ask them to do that, its free. Enjoy! Some custom exhausts have been known to gain slightly more power than expensive name brand full exhausts! And its cheaper! Another thing, single exhausts on our cars will be louder than dual

Canister, baffles and the dimension of the piping all determine the sound. The bends should always be "Mandrel".

In terms of canisters... do exhaust companies make their own - or do the outsource (more likely), and if so from whom??
