Default what are the most common minor issues with the 2002 s2k?

well im going to pick my car up sometime soon and was wondering what were the most generic things to look for.
loose plugs? etc

on my accord it was the tranny, so i installed a tranny cooler. also, there would be a clickin noise from the dust shield for the front brakes.
thanks guys and will be joining you in s2k land!!

I'd check for hidden body damages and not just the scratches and the dings. Go from back to front and see your car in an angle. I found a bump on the left fender on a S2000 that I WAS going to purchase. I waited for a new one to arrive after that.

Other things is, check for the arm rest on the center console. I'm sure itz not missing but some S2000s, when you put weight on the arm rest, it makes a cracking sound which says they haven't perfectly fitted the arm rest. I've seen a lot of problems with that actually.

Last thing I can think of is to check on the tranny. My friend went through some problems with his and there is a lot of issues with S2000 not shifting right and whatnot. Sometimes, my car won't let me shift from 1st to 2nd. I need to look at my Speed Synchroze...

what part of the s2000 doesn't rattle or click?? I noticed alot when I got mine but they either worked themselves out or I've selectively blocked them from my hearing..

I'd look for extra miles! I bought my car w/ like forty something miles from the dealer. They went across the street to the service center to wash or prep it or whatever before I went home. It came back with like 56 miles on it.

The passenger seat belt will rattle. Re-position it in the seatbelt holder and it will be quiet.

When you have the convertible top boot installed, the elastic straps will buzz in the wind. You can twist them or reposition them to stop the noise.

Some people have had trouble with the spare tire being loose. Tighten the tie-downs to keep it quiet.

That's all that I can think of,
Tanq

Problems I've had:

1) The first day I got my 2002, I adjusted the seat, not realizing that the back of the headrest was now touching the roll bar. The result was that three days later, I had scratched up the paint on the back of the headrest and the bar. Make sure they don't touch. I also put some electrical tape on both sides to prevent future scuffing if it happens again.

2) Had a breakdown at 600 miles, the ignition coil had to be replaced. I've read here of at least two others who had the same thing happen.

3) The plastic surround on the base of the rear view mirror falls off CONSTANTLY

4) The interior trunk switch works when the ignition is off, so all someone has to do to break into your trunk is to break open the flimsy console cover (or just open it as you'll inevitably forget to lock it). Plus, I never lock convertibles, so it's really easy for someone to open mine. So I rewired the trunk so that the switch only works when the inition is turned on.

5) For awhile, when I put the top down the left window stopped halfway all the time. Then, it fixed itself.

Other than that, it's been great.
