Default What other car would you replace your S2000 with?

I'm just wondering. I have always wanted a Porsche 911 (993). However the price and maintenance costs are extreme compared to the S2000. Is the driving experience really that much better? Aside from collectability, what would you replace your S2000 with if you had the funds?

Reason the S2000 is great (not in order of importance for me):
  • Cheap to purchase
  • Cheap to insure
  • Cheap to maintain
  • Easy to work on
  • Insane driving experience
The temptation to get something else is strong. But would it be THAT much better? Has anyone here ever had a Porsche and S2000? Would regret settle in having realized the S2000 was the prefect car?

Porsche envy disease strikes again.

I've been afflicted with this malady myself from time to time.

I've always recovered.

There are some people in New England that have both Porsche & S2000's. For myself,if I had the funds, I would probably go in a different direction and get a hi powered truck or custom Jeep.

Yeah, I would probably go for an air cooled Porche with a removable top/convertable and manual transmission. I could very well go for another vintage take. I could go 180 degrees and get something like a 1950s or 1940 convertible that has been restored.

Ha. Good to know I'm not alone. I have been drooling over a 993 since 2011. Before the prices skyrocketed on them. Now they are basically unattainable fo me.
I just have that curiosity about the difference in driving one of those vs an S2000.

If my S2000 were stolen or totaled (preferably without me being injured in either scenario), I'd replace it with an AE86 Corolla or 92-95 Civic hatchback.

I have no interest in 'prestige' cars.

Audi R8 or Aston Martin V8 vantage (both in 6spd of course). They go for $50-80k, and older ones wont depreciate any more.

Kyle has it correct, if wrecked I would save all good parts of my 04 and put them into a low mile late model s2K after I drove it to death.
there is no equivalent substitute, miss the sound of my 62 XKE and 67 SL280, the cool of my DB6, loved my 67 Elan, some of my Europas less my Esprits but day to day my S2K is my fave. My 67 911, 74 911 Targa, and 2003 Carrera 4 all left me cold for them other than the sound they make.
