Interesting that a 8" rim can only handle a 225 tire. I would have guessed a 245 at least. My old cobra had 8" rims and it had 255/45/17 stock. But then again those low profile tires do look good.
And you are right S2K1 19" are very popular with the 350z folks. I think they look best on that car due to the bigger look over the S2000.

It's not that the rim can't handle a bigger tire, it's that the offset pushes the wheels so far out that any wider a tire and it would rub on your fenders or stick out and look tacky. Plus it would kick things up and damage the paint. I haven't had these rims personally, so I do not know, but this is based on my knowledge of this setup. PM RedlineS2K about the tires he's running.
On 350Z's, from what I've heard/seen, 19's are popular on Z's. My dad has one, neighbor has one, bro-in-law has one. They all agree, 19's are "in" on the 350Z. Volk Racing came out with a pamphlet on the 350Z(picked it up at Stillen) and all of their model cars had 19's and there were several 19" wheel options. I think they look perfect for the 350Z because the track model's 18's don't quite fill the wheel wells enough. Drop it a little and put some 19's on it, and it'll look great.

Well that is what happens with heavier wheels. That is why I hesitate changing my rims the lightweight rays are nice.

If you can afford 19-inch Volks, I say, get 'em. The track wheels are nice, but I feel that there's something missing. It just doesn't strike me as being some really nice wheels, which they are.

Well I had the oppurtunity to really drive a S2k today. I must say I was impressed. Dealer is suppose to call me up and offer me a deal for my Z. The manager wanted it for himself. Usually I would say no thanks, however if he can lower my payments by 150bucks per month with nuthing down. That could be mighty tempting. Any thoughts

Z is a wonderful car. I was going to buy one myself, but then canceled the order and got an S2K. Nothing beats the top-down fun of an S. It's like a damned motocycle on 4 wheels. Too damn fun!

The other day, I saw a Z with massive, most beautiful 19" wheels on. Oh mama, beautiful! They were deep-dished too. Should've stolen those for my S.
