What should have been a standard feature for the S2000?

That's interesting. I was wondering, could you provide links to pertinent data on the subject?

Traction, stability, airbags, etc should be options on all cars and standard (forced) on no cars. I want all the safety possible on my family car that I pack kids in but I could care less with the s2000, hell, I would have opted out of ABS if given the option.

As for the topic at hand

The dream honda sports car would have a 450hp at 9200rpm 4Liter F40c standard with the same curb wight as the AP2.

Realistically:

forged wheels standard

Full aluminum construction ( like NSX) or at least full Al. suspension

Recaro seats standard or factory option (they've put them in damn near ever car they make in japan)

Mugen Parts as warrantied factory options

Someone's mentioned this already but a coupe version would have been killer (imagine how stiff an s2000 coupe would have been, probably lighter too!)

A flappy paddle gear box would have been a nice option (<-key word) for the later YM cars

A successor.

Oh and better brakes (whatever that entails)

abs is broken in my my04, i dont think you want to drive it without it. the front tires lose traction way too quickly

I've never had a problem except once on a freshly dampened road in a car with bald tires. The road had a slight grade (around 15 degrees) and I was traveling down hill so that couldn't have helped either but human antilock brakes got the car turned.

I've done the last 4 years or so with no ABS on my S. Wet, dry, snow on the street, wet and dry track days. Definitely keeps threshold braking skills well-practiced No real issues, fronts have always locked before rears in all conditions on tires ranging from dedicated winters to R-comps, on same pad compounds front/back (OEM, XP8, HP+).

with my setup of 215's in the front and 255's in the back: the fronts start locking up way before the back even has something to say.. maybe i need a more aggressive pad in the back

No you need more tire up front. Your rears have more grip so your fronts loose grip faster than the rears and lock up under hard breaking. I'm sure there is a thread somewhere on this site that can help you get your brake bias to where you want it.

Power windows auto up down feature for passenger window, power door locks button on the drivers side, and Homelink in the rear view mirror.
