Default What should I do with my S2000?

So my car was run into a ditch and the exterior is pretty much ruined. I don't know about the engine's condition. If the engine is still running fine, does it mean that it wasn't affected by the accident? What sorts of things could've been affected with the engine?

I think the car is considered totalled, and so I'm planning to get another car. I have a bunch of modifications (engine, suspension, interior, etc.) on the car, but I don't have much time to remove many of them. What would you do? Would you take every mod out of the car or just leave them? Would you rather have the car fixed and keep it instead? I don't know what to do. I'd put many hours into doing modifications to the car and now the whole car is a waste. Please tell me what you would do in my situation! Please!

I had a 95 mustang cobra that caught fire and was totaled. I told my insurance agent about the mods I had done to the car and after producing receipts they added that to the value of the car. I don't know if your insurance company will go for it or not, but mine did. I would at least bring it up and see what they say.

i did the same for my camaro with mods and went with the claims adjuster to inspect the vehicle. He include the mods in the check i received back. Now understand he didn't have to do that as you are suppose to pay a seperate premium for that but you might get a nice guy.

Let the isurance pay first. If you already know the exterior is totalled then try to fix theexterior, but if the engine still runs that doesn't automatically make it "untouched". Check the engine out, it may run fine, but it could end up biting you in the @ss later.
As for not having much time, have a friend do it (A friend that knows how to do it of course), and pay him/her. Chances are it's going to be cheaper than a shop.

KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would keep it and work on it as much as I could (but hey that's just me )

Take what you can out of the car and replace it with the stock stuff on the wrecked car before the insurance company looks it over. Insurance isn't going to give you any more money because your car Mugen'd out. If the insurance company wants to sell you the car for cheap, you may want to pick it up. You can part the car out, do something with the engine, or piece it together for a track car if it's still in some kind of condition, but do not let the insurance company get those parts!!!

Good luck, this is how my insurance company worked for my stolen car.

1. they paid a certain amount (i think $12) for CD's with a 20 CD limit
2. They paid for any mod that was an enhancement to the car, not a performance part. For example, if you had cloth and upgraded to leather, or if you changed out the stock head unit for an aftermarket deck.
3. For me they covered my Leather seats, my head unit, and my springs and struts, but did not cover my intake Short shifter, or exhaust.

Just a little input to help out. I would have bought my car back from them also but when they found it there was literally nothing left, those bastards even took the carpet and the windsheild wipers.

I bought a car back from the insurance company after a total. They wanted 10% of the settlement.

You should be able to buy the totalled car for less than $3000 and make money selling parts.

YMMV. depends on who your insurance company and claims adjuster is. my bro-in-law totaled his MY01, and state farm paid for most of his mods (with receipts). he had bolt-ons mostly, and he was pretty happy with it. if you think you have the time to yank everything out, and can fetch a better price from ebay or here, go ahead.

have to check with your insurance company and see what they're willing to do...
