Default What should my FIRST mod be?

So I have had the car all of 48hours and am dying to make my first modifaction. What should it be? Intake, Exhaust, Header, CPU Chip "if one is available"

My other question is where are the good shops in so.cal who know this car and are not hacks. I don't mind paying extra money for quality work.

Thanks
Jerrod

Mine was definately the speakers! Then the K&N and then the Pro-Flow throttlebody.

I am awaiting results of the AEM engine management system.

I agree with this one! $150 and you really learn.... that you are not the race car driver you thought you were.

I don't think the K&N airfilter makes any difference....didn't Vapor (John whatever in florida) do the dyno testing and found 2hp diff.?

In have done many driving events and auto X in my Boxster. I am not saying im an expert driver but i feel i am better than average and TRUST ME i do know my driving limits.

I just hate to leave the car stock and would like to make a few tweaks to it.

Thanks

Having drive both the Boxster and the S2000, I would still recommend at least taking the car to a track (if not a performance course that allows you to drive your own car) as your first "mod" since this car handles so differently that the Boxster. That being said, I'd then add an X brace if you are an experienced driver as you will truly appreciate the stability it brings to the drive, especially on uneven surfaces on turns...wow does it keep your wheels on the ground through those.

After the driver's ed, my next suggestions would be:

1) Muz Mat for the rear window (if you have an '00 or '01)
2) A butt load of Plexus (again if you have an '00 or '01)
3) A team Voodoo shift knob. I had one on my previous Miata and recently installed one on my '02 S. The knob fits perfectly in my hand, looks great, shortens shifts, and simply enhances every single drive I take.
4) An X brace. I went the route of the DiGrappa Brace because I have had great experiences with Rick, liked the simplicity of this design (not welds, etc.), and relied on others feedback. I can't speak for other braces ?(though I've head good things) but the X brace tightens up an already spectacular chassis and makes its presence known every time I drive over a crappy road. I can't speak to it making any difference in handling (I don't drive my S hard enough on the streets to tell that difference) but I feel confident that the stronger chassis will be even more important as the ravages of time and stress take their toll.

Hope that helps.
