Your first mod should definitely be new speakers. Replace the ones in the doors and then install rear speakers behind the seats. The difference is like night and day. A rear spoiler also adds a lot to the looks of the rear of the car.

Most mods don't make any difference to the car. Here are my favorites:
1) Voodoo knob. For $30, it is BY FAR the best bang-for-your-buck mod available. BY FAR!
2) Muz Mat, Muz floor mats to protect the rear window and the cheap carpeting. If you ever sell your car, you will make big dividends by not having your carpet worn out on the x-bone frame and not having a scratched up rear window.
3) Replace the OEM speakers. For $74, you can drastically improve the quality of the sound from your OEM head-unit.
4) Tie:
4a) If you are in a hot climate, get the Spoon radiator cap, Spoon thermostat and Spoon fan switch. They make a huge difference in engine temperature for $160.
4b) If you are not in a hot climate, get the Mugen sway bar. It will keep your rear tucked in, improving your ability to drive the car on the track, autocross courses, and the twisties. $385.
2 cents.

i think the mod should depend on how you want your s2k to be. Wether you want looks, sound or performace first, its up to you.
If you want looks, get a spoiler and a kit. If you want sound, defenitly get a phat cat back, it boosts the sound like crazy at high rpms. if you want performance, get a supercharger and maybe after that, start fixin up the interior workings like the header and intake. might also want to take a look at Sport Compact Car, August 2001. Theyve got 2 articles on fixed up s2ks. You might be able to get a couple tips from there.

I like the idea of just cutting through all the other BS but this does not seem possible.
