Whats the point of all this?
Do you track your car? or race competitively? Even then, a few pounds of weight savings isn't going to help you much.

I just don't understand why would people do unnecessary stuff like this without any purposes.
every pound shaved adds up...3lbs here, then 7lbs there, then 2lbs on each corner here, then 4lbs over there, then 20lbs. Just that would add up to 42lbs...thats why.

Weight reduction is one of the best things to do for tracking the car. It does not only effect one aspect of racing but all three; acceraltion, braking, and cornering...less weight makes all of the above better.

Go on a diet. You can shed more pounds off of your body in a month than you can by removing the airbox.
I am 6'2 and weigh only 151 pounds. I probably wear a smaller or equal jeans size than your girlfriend/wife (size 6). If I lost any more weight I'd be sickly.

The spare and tools is actually 35 or 36 pounds. Is the carpeting in trunk really 10 pounds? It looks like I'll be removing that soon And the windshield fluid? Has anyone actually weighed that? I wash my car every 3 or 4 days, so I don't even need the washer fluid or even the reservoir really. Anyone have info on how to empty/remove it? I guess I could just "flush" it all out onto the windshield. I think I'm going to start looking around the car for stuff to take out, perhaps there are things under the seats/carpet/console that I can find. I do still want my car to appear untampered with.

I think I may create a custom "weight watchers" signature picture for all of us weight reducing whores

I had the weight of the box and misc... although lost my spread sheet when my hard drive died. I need to weigh it all again.

The windshield reservoir filled I believe weighs 9 pounds. Which makes perfect sense seeing as a gallon of fluid weighs apx 8lbs...

I'm all about weight savings!! Hell I even removed my windshield wiper motor. I already had the wipers off because the S2k looks so much better w/o wipers, I figured I might as well!
RainX is your friend for that occasional rain.

My girlfriend wanted me to inform you that she is a size 0. I have to ask, how do you know that you wear a size 6 in women's?

Day1si, do you know the weight of the washer fluid reservoir and hoses? Could you weigh it for me? I'll need to keep my wipers, seeing as how Atlanta does get a good amount of rain seasonally.

Ndazone, I know that I wear a size 6 in girl jeans because that's all I wear. American men's jeans are baggy in the thighs and are tapered at the bottom. Even 'boot cut' men's jeans have pretty much just a straight leg, and are baggy. Women's jeans are made to look more "European-esque". The fashion world pretty much starts in Europe, and men's pants there are actually "designed" and not just thrown together as a bunch of denim material.

I typically wear GAP and Express girl's jeans. My smaller sizes (6,8) I wear boot cut and my larger ones (10,12) are flared. Keep in mind, I am a musician and musicians have been wearing tight clothing since the 60s. I wear all small size shirts and am into the "metal/hardcore" scene so if you know what that is, you'll understand what I'm talking about If not, don't worry about it. I am not gay and I have a hot girlfriend of over 2 years.

Now, back to saving weight in our cars

For ALL of the plastics/fabric in the trunk...ya, I guesstimated it at 10lbs...I would weigh it but its all in my parents basement back in CA. Its just overall ya thats where its at.

Also, I know you are into weight saving but removing the winshield washer lines and stuff...man don't bother if you ever intend to sell the car, or unless it is going to be a dedicated track car. The reservior + lines is probably only 2lbs. Things like this are what I start to consider menial until everything else is gotten too, and it starts to take away from the "dailyness" of the car

Anyway here are pics of a stripped trunk, I like it personally, yes they are big pics

ooh lookin good I'll do this sometime either tomorrow or Monday and weigh it all for you. Looks really clean in there.

Thanks for the heads up on the reservoir/lines. 2 pounds isn't worth all that effort. I was thinking it might be more like 10 or so. I'll just empty mine and leave it at that.

I'm assuming that fluffy stuff is soundproofing stuff right? I won't touch it if it is.

yep...sound proofing for the fuel pump and stuff...I just left it, its really light as well. Emptying the reservior fluid is probably enough for that system, at least 80% of the weight, so...

I will be removing a lot of that "fluffy" stuff once I get a hardtop though, as I'll be taking out the soft-top, tray, components, etc.

ohh and sadly my trunk doesn't look quite as clean anymore, a couple scuffs and stuff...from heavy things I've put in there. But hey, if I sell the car, I'll put the plastics back in, so it doesn't matter.
