Thumbs up What are these under the headlights?

This might have been asked already, I tried searching but no luck. This seems to be on the Honda S2000 GT's...(UK model). Just wondering what those rectangular things are under the headlights and what are they used for? Link

I had a feeling that's what they were for. Honestly I think it would be rice for us lol it kinda takes away the nice curves the S has...and when would you even use them except for winter..even then..there's no headlight wiper blades like Volvo's.
