i hit 140 with top down on a two lane road late at night, i thought it was really smooth and could go faster. but i really dont see the point anything could go wrong at that speed. i dont think i will ever go that fast again, i just wanted to see 140 on the tack.
LoL...

having been up to 110 on the track with my S, and 125/130 on highway on-ramps (late at night with no traffic around), I was in kinda the same boat...just wanted to see 150 on the speedo.

Soon as I did, I backed off and was comfortably cruising at the speed limit within short order.

Do you really think it's worth the risks?

Not anymore I don't.

I rarely take her into the triple digits anymore (track or passing on the highway in a dangerous situation - such as a weaving tractor-trailer). In fact, I rarely push 80 even.

Let's play safe, guys.
These numbers I see here are scary it makes my palm sweaty.
I'll admit that I went up to about 105mph but that's about it.
Our S2000 definitely feels faster inside the cabin than it's real speed.
I guess I don't have the balls to push the car that fast.

speaking of which i learned the hard way when i bought a black s2k and had it shipped to north carolina from new mexico and the night i took it off the dealership i raced a wrx (which i beat ) but forgot about a curve and totaled the car, least to say i had the car for less than an hour and was not having a good night and needed 7 staples to the head so i learned after that and bought my spa afterwards

Based on that video that has someone maxing out redline in 6th gear going slightly downhill and passing semis lol, I guess the maximum speed is 176 mph (speedo speed, not actual speed of course).

Regarding the twitchiness and drama at high speeds, I'm guessing it mainly has to do with the short wheelbase, low polar inertial moment of the car, and relatively high drag.

There is also a lot of lift at the back of the car. A wing can eleminate the rear lift, but adds drag, lowering the cars top speed.

Top speed runs going down an incline don't really count. Our RX300 will do 150 if the hill is steep enough and long enough, but the top speed on a level road is closer to 110.
