Default What is up with all the wind buffers, etc. ?

Everywhere I turn I see products (not cheap either) that reduce the wind in the cockpit. Not to bash the posters here but I never understood the concept of huge wind buffers and wind reducing elements. When I put the top down it's because I want the most wind in my face. It blows my mind when people want to drive top down but want it to feel and sound like the top was up... The only exception I can see is when it's around 55

Perhaps to protect the fine upholstery whilst speeding about in the rain?

It ain't about the driver's comfort.

It's about the cars.

I drive 75 miles a day and I want to do it top-down. Doing that with the wind in your face gets really old after two days.

I am a top down kind of guy but in the S the wind slams you around and it gets tiresome. I drive 4 hours on the freeway and I am beat.

I have a older Italian sports car (nice bright Red one) and the wind blows but it does not slam you around like it does on a S, even my 73 FIAT 124 did not. I was surprised in the S with the amount of wind buffeting, the Italian cars don't have it even going back 40 years, they figured out how to prevent it and still keep the car looking good.

But then again, I think there is nothing sillier on the road than a convertible with the top down and the windows rolled up, you will NEVER see my windows up when the top is down.

if conditions are near perfect i have the top down but it's more for the openness and view...not for the 'wind in my hair'. top down if 75 or warmer and no freeway driving - i definitely would have gotten the s2000 coupe if it was available.

85% of s2k owners don't even bother to put their top down...you're capping on those that do?

Wow 85% don't put it down? Even that number is exaggerated a little and even 50% don't put it down ever then that's amazing. That clearly shows some dedication to the car. I love this car but I can certainly guarentee that I would be driving a Boxster, Z4, or something else if the S2000 came in coupe only.
