If it was not efficient, and necessary, they would not rev.that high !!!
please don't tell me you're trying to compare a f1 engine with the s2k engine

He was just pointing out that you can tune an engine to make more power at higher RPMs...if you have lots of sponsors!!!

If you look at the S2k dyno, you can see the power curve going down after 8200k rpm. After this point the only thing you're doing is wasting fuel and choking the engine.

Ohh boy... what an ignorant statement.

Geez, why are people so hype about high redline? If you look at the S2k dyno, you can see the power curve going down after 8200k rpm. After this point the only thing you're doing is wasting fuel and choking the engine. Not very efficient or necessary.
with aftermarket ECU and tuning and timing adjustments, the car has enough airflow to continue to make power.

your statement is very incorrect.

lol he was just being funny.

that said, keep in mind the S2000 has F1 engineering in it, and was part of the inspiration for the car.

They get 4 mpg and are good for about 400 miles....not very efficient.
It's necessary to rev that high 'cause regulations limit displacement.

...ah never mind, forget it....

I'll state what other people seem to not want to state xD

When you have a higher range of RPM, you stay in a higher powerband.

For example you shift at 9k, you'll land at around 7k. However, if you shift at 11k, you might land at 9k. That would put you at a better powerband for the engine.
