I say drive it. If your commute is 100 mile round trip, I'm guessing its like mine, lots of highway, not a lot of bumper-bumper.

I agree that the S is no fun, and its not doing it any favors, commuting in bumper-bumper. But racking up hwy miles isn't going to wear it out (but it will cause depreciation. If you are keeping it forever, that is less of a concern).

I got my S2000 to drive, but would not enjoy the front end paint chips from endless highway driving. My 08 civic is my commuter and is basically sand blasted on the front from a 200 mile highway stint once a week.

I drive the S every chance I get when not on that weekly trip

This. Do rack up the miles dude! If you wanna drive the S then drive the S! There's no shame in letting the civic sit. Hell, if worse comes to worse and you get like 400k miles on it or something. Just buy a new engine. lol. Keep driving man. Don't let me see you in that civic!

Wear and tear is really just a reason to buy new car parts. Buying new car parts makes me happy. Therefore, wear and tear makes me happy. Drive it, break it, fix it, repeat. Not like these cars are super expensive to maintain anyways.

Like other said, unless you're worried about resale, who cares about the miles, enjoy it!

I don't mind racking up miles on my S, but 100 per day would bug me. I'd do something to make the Civic more appealing. A great stereo or a turbocharger...something to make it more enjoyable.

I used to have a Prelude as a second car. It took a lot of will power every day to walk past the S and get in the Prelude.

I'd have no problems driving a civic or prelude as a daily. As much fun as my S is, it's not really that enjoyable driving it into downtown and around downtown.

I would much rather save my S for fun weekend driving.

It's a car not a trophy... Drive the thing!
