Default What would you do...93 Del Sol Si getting old need to replace with NEW car!

Here is my short car list

2002 325ci Titanium Silverblack
2002 S2000 Silverblack

I have 2 cars right now...a 6 speed 99 C5 magnetic redblackblack ragtop with 26K miles in perfect condition with no problems. A awesome car that I will keep and only drive on good non-rainy days.

A 93 Honda Del Sol Si 5 speed, with 190K miles, in perfect condition, new paint, everything restored, gonna need a new engine and exhaust. I am tired of old cars.

I have test driving the '02 S2000 and '02 325ci. The S2000 test drive was awesome, they really did upgrade the transmission and shifter, and the interior trim is awesome, compared to the '00 and '01 S2000. I was supprised that the ride was much better than I thought, not harsh at all.

The Bmw was also nice, lots of room and they did fix the steering in the '02. I looked at the 330ci but could not justify 40k for that car.

I am single, no kids not married. My vette is almost paid off...so the S2000 or 325ci is not going to kill me and I am going to sell the Del Sol.

I would have bought a RSX-S had acura not screwed up the suspension and exterior styling of the car.

What would you guys do? Give me all your pros and cons. I can get a 2002 Silverblack S2000 on January 28th brand new...but It going to be at MSRP. I can get the bimmer around march 1 at $1500 over invoice.

Thanks

Copperhead

Some will disagree, but it's simple to me. Unless you plan on changing the sotck tires on the S2000, it will not serve you well as an all-weather car. If it was raining, you'd have two garage queens.

Both are excellent choices, but arent we comparing apples to oranges? Both cars are entirely different. One is a Pure Sports Car Roadster, the other is a Luxury Coupe. It really depends of what you intend to do with the car. Are you going to take it to the road course once in a while? Do you want a convertable 2 seater roadster to cruise in? Then the s2K is the way to go.

On the other hand if you want to be pampered with luxury get the BMW....

my $0.02

Tell me about wet weather in the S2000..Down here is san antonio its does rain and when it does it gets really nasty and we have days in the winter where its foggy and drizzily all day.

On the corvette I replaced the stock EMT tires with Bridgestone S-03. These tires are awesome in the rain. The C5 is a totally different car with out EMT tires. Much more quiet and better control without wheelhop. I also got a Z06 spec alignment and boy this really makes the difference in handling. I would do the same on the S2000 replace the stock tires with bridgestone S-03 and make sure the alignment is perfect before delivery.

Same thing on the 325ci, I would go bridgestone S-03...Its comes with crappy continential tires...but they are 22545WR17..

I upgraded from a 93 del sol SI (supercharged, nos, alot of stuff) to a 2001 S2000. Best move I have made in a while.

Given your stable of cars, I would suggest the BMW - since you already have a nice weather car/convertible. Though you could trade the C5 for the S2000

As for the RSX, I tend to agree with you on the styling - the car is just too tall! But as for the suspension - I am quite impressed with how they tuned the rear suspension to make the car more neutral and throttle steerable...

Sell the Del Sol and the C5 and buy the S2000 and the BMW.

well, since you got a c5 convert, i would look for something a little more practical like a wrx , make it a wrx wagon at that. all wheel drive turbo . so when it rains in texas, you can still tear it up.
who needs luxury, your single, lol.
