Go out and drive the different years and see how you like the driving experience of each year. You make the decision for yourself then

00-03 if you want most visceral performance, you will need to upgrade a few engine internals and other parts. (nothing major),brilliant car.

04-05 if you want raw performance with the last cable controlled engine, arguably the most desirable s2000 year. (one downside the tunning hardware is price a little more vs 06+) other then that it takes the best from the ap1 and the ap2 and combines it in a complete package.

06-09 drive by wire, brilliant car, flashpro compatible, make the best daily driver.

At the end of the day I would suggest picking up an 04-05, you can pick up a low mileage stock example for a good price, you still get the throttle cable control for a more direct driving experience and you get the same engine as 06+

04-05 is probably the *least* desirable year. You have to settle for no Flashpro capabilities and no 9k redline. DBW is a non-issue--these aren't Civics.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd still get an 06+. The only other years I'd consider would be 02-03.

Simply read the thread, and you may change your response. The guy who started this thread lives in the UK, which means 04-05 would indeed have the 9k redline.

There are advantages and disadvantages to all years... that said, I agree with the masses - get an 06+ for the flashpro option.

Ok cool. What's the deal with flashpro then? I will most likely get an 05 as they are around my budget. Other than exhaust and intake I'm not going to mess with it too much.
