What is your idle speed?
Before I begin, I did do a search and could not find my specific question / issue.
What is the idle speed that I should be seeing once the engine is warmed up? I seem to be seeing a cycling between 800 and 900 (or 900 and 1000) about every 5 seconds or so. In other words, it'll spend about 5 seconds at 800 then 5 seconds at 900 and so onm back-and-forth. It's not always 5 seconds, but somewhere in that range.
I don't think this is the MAP sensor issue. I'm not experiencing the hesitation that others are experiencing.
I've checked the oil level several times and it is fine.
I've tried a couple different brands of gas, all 93 octane. No change in symptoms between brands.
I'm just trying to find out if this is normal or if I need to start looking at making an appointment with the car doc.

Sounds about what I get when the engine is warmed up. It varies too, like around 800 - 1000 rpm. The thing that got me was when I first push the button after a few days of rest, I got like 2000 for like 20 seconds, that kinda freaked me out, considering the car had only a few hundred miles on it.

Idle speed depends on many parameters. If you've got some lights on, the alternator is asking for power from the engine, so the revs rise slightly. Same for other things like the A/C.
Fundamentally though, when the engine is cold the ECU is raising the engine revs to warm up the engine on max effectiveness. A cold engine would not stay happily at 700 or less rpm, and it would probably stall. If you leave it for a couple of minutes you will notice the engine revs slowing down progressively as it gets hotter.
I take it that you guys are not warming up your cars enough, since you haven't experienced this...I suggest you try warming up the car from cold, 2-3 minutes everytime. For the sake of your engine that is...
