If its perfect conditions like the AP1 had them im sure it can be done. Neither car is faster so drop that crap. If the temp is low enough and you've got enough wind pushing your ass and you launch it just right and bang every single shift like a pro then yea a 13.7 is possible but its certainly not easily repeatable.

02-03 is definately more fun in the higher RPM range. I miss my 9k redline so much..., but for a daily drives...that .2 liter helps.

There is nothing raw about ANY S2000 folks. Its got AC power windows, power locks, keyless entry, radio, leather trimming and a power top. Stop shooting this crap about Ap1 is so raw compared to the Ap2. Puuuuleeasseeee
There is in relative terms. The AP2 is a dumbed down version of the AP1.

I guess if having a high maintenance plastic window, horrid speakers, cheap carpet console/interior etc, smallish looking 16" wheels
AP2 stereos are no better -- the plastic window is bigger and neither of mine have required maintenance -- the fake leather on the AP2 center is just that anyway .... and the bigger wheels make the car slower.

The cars acceleration is the same on both cars.
Yet the record still belongs to an AP1.

If you know anything about the Japanese, the first year is usually the best. Look at Datsun 240Z's. In fact, the Japs usually blueprint all the engines for at least part of the first year. I've had my '00 almost six years and it has never been beaten by any other S2000. I don't drag race it but I'm fond of 45 mph to 120. 45 is 6000 in second. For that matter, I've never run into a Porsche that can beat it, though I did see 148 mph after letting a Boxster S get a jump on me. But I still went by. Even 911's are chump change if you just get a little jump. 330 hp Mustang SVT Cobras? No problem.
You are a fool. Please do us a favor and stop posting here.

Yes, it's true I haven't found any Vipers or turbo Porsches to race. But if I get a nice jump and catch them out of the right gear, they'll still lose.
That is ... the dumbest thing I have read on this forum .... ever.

I've driven them all and i prefer the original. The best beach in the nation is Honopu on the Napali coast of Kauai- more than likely you have never heard of it.
I'll second that....took a jeep up there about a year ago and drove around and hung out. Absolutely beautiful. Although tunnels beach on the other side of Na Pali coast was pretty awesome too.

Why, I don't care that much about the 1000k in rpm as long as it is quicker and has more power. Improved handling (depending on taste but less likely to slide the rear end) improvements to transmission and differential, oil jet bolts, glass window, slightly nicer interior, better wheels, etc.

All the things my 2001 does not have including a non-expired warranty. The slight difference in looks makes no difference to me at all.

commonsense, you need a new username since it's pretty obvious you don't have any!

I recently sold my '01 and searched the market to replace it w/ another sports car. I preferred and bought the low mileage '03 I found over an '05. All S2000's are cool in my book, though, and I'm sure I'd enjoy whatever year was in my garage.
