commonsense, you need a new username since it's pretty obvious you don't have any!
Go back and look at his user info on the original post. Check out how many days he's been on the forum and how many posts he's made in that time.

Neither time nor lots of posts create common sense.

"Even 911's are chump change if you just get a little jump. 330 hp Mustang SVT Cobras? No problem. Four car lengths from 45 to 125. Yes, it's true I haven't found any Vipers or turbo Porsches to race. But if I get a nice jump and catch them out of the right gear, they'll still lose." - FANTASY, unless he is FI and has conveniently omitted that.

"The 0-60 and quarter mile times were fastest in the first year." - if anything, the '02-'03 s/b a little quicker due to the more powerful ECU

"You have to wring it's neck EVERY TIME to keep it in the power band. I can comfortably shortshift my '00 and stay in the power band." - actually, you can shortshift the 2.2 a lot more comfortably, the AP1 is the one which needs to have its neck wrung

"And the 2.0 liters have a higher piston speed than a Formula 1 V-10. Can't say that about the 2.2's." - Is this really important? Can't say I really care...

I had an '01, and greatly prefer my "civilized" '03....it feels every bit as fast, handles materially better, and I like the interior upgrades + glass rear window.

simply put.......

02-03 are the probably the best choice for a used s2k shopper. they have the glass rear window, leaner ECU(AFR wise) and chrome ringed tail-lamps, haha! they are also pretty reasonable prices. i bought my 02 with 27k for a little over 23k.

forget all the ap1/ap2 who is faster crap. they run door to door. the ap2's make about 2-3rwhp more than ap1's but its not enough to make any kind of measurable difference. AP1=9k forever!!!!!

To say the first model is how Honda meant it to be is pretty ignorant. If you know anything about Japanese they love to improve on things that they do. I believe its called Kaizen(sp) or constant improvement. There is always room for improvements. Just look at the NSX.

MY03 for me. When I went looking a year ago I drove the 05 and a used 03 and just liked the 03 better. It's all personal preference.

OK, I'll be different. I have an 03 but would take an 06 over it after the Slave Cylinder Mod was done to it. I really like the look of the new ones better.

Love the03. I like the simpler wheels even if they are smaller - especially if they are chromed. I just hope they keep making the car .

When I get to seriously looking for another one anything newer than 03 is out of the question. I was going to lease an 04 when they had the $249/month specials but after driving it there was no comparison. Between the 00-01 & the 02-03 I'm still torn. If the price difference is big enough and I can find one with a decent window I may go with the original, otherwise I'll probably go with an 02 GPW. And for what its worth I like the carpeted console better too .
