Default what's a good mod for N/A?

I'm trying to keep it N/A and fairly simple. All I have now is a aem intake and a apex-i N1 single cat back exhaust. I wanted just a little more power and was thinking about headers but after research a majority of people here say it's H.P. gains are not worth the cost. So what else is a good mod other than header or test pipe? Or if you do suggest a header, which one? Is Rick's good?, Toda?, etc???

I'd say an 02'-03' ECU would be an excellent "cost conscious" mod.......

if I got the headers and/or test pipe would I have to tune the car or can you just bolt on and see a power difference?

Also, I'm sure the test pipe isn't legal for inspection in NY right? What about the headers, Let's say Rick's header would I be able to pass inspection with it? If it is illegal how do you get around it?

I have an 01, can I just plug in an 02-03 ECU? What would be the gains compared to getting a VAFC2 and tuning it.

testpipe won't be legal in any state. I don't think you'd have a problem with a header. Good header is definitely a large investment for not much gain. inexpensive mods would be 02-03 ECU and.or VAFC-2 module. Pretty sure you can just plug in the new ECU. It leans out the A/F mixture up top and gives a couple hp.. maybe 5. VAFC probably good for 5 or so whp too. For some more cash, pick up some 4.56 or 4.77 final drive gears.. certainly the best bang for the buck.

Im going for 220-225whp range. So far I just have the spoon ecu and berk tp. Car feels strong. Not sure how much im making though. What more do i need to do to get to my goal? Im thinking single exhaust, header, and intake.
