Ok. Another idiot question. What is the small yet deep yet narrow pocket in the console in front of the cup holder for? I've yet to find anything small enough to fit in it that you can retrieve from it w/o a struggle. It mystifies me. Please enlighten me. (I'm easily comforted).

I use it as a coin box.

 

Since it has the raised ridges to hold coins, I also assumed that it is a coin box. It will also hold flipping cellphones and small garage door openers..

I usually throw my 2nd keyring in it (w/ house keys and the like), occaisonally a cell phone.

 

If you plan on getting the hardtop, this is where the rear defroster switch will go. This same switch will probably be used for the glass rear-window defroster on the '02 models as well since the wire harness is already located right there.

 

If that's where the defroster switch goes, what is the blank on the dash opposite the cruise control for??

 

Coin, cell phone, and house key holder.

 

Its also a great place to keep condoms handy for that stop-light quickie :-)

That would have been a better location for the defroster switch! That way our cars can still have the little console pocket for condoms...er, I mean coins!

I seem to recall that blank spot on the dash was used for the Euro spec cars (rear fog light?). Probably some feature will never have over here.
