That area on the console houses the headlight washer switch on the Euro cars.

credit cards, garage key card, chapstick, grocery store cards....business cards, etc....

I use the cup holder for keys and change....

That spot doesn't appear to be used on any models. Even on Euro models, the rear foglight switch goes on the left, where the cruise control switch is on N.A. models. (I understand that cruise control is not even an option in Europe). So the right side even stays blank over in Europe too. I can only imagine it would ever being used if Honda came out with a model which had both cruise control and rear foglight. I'll bet that there isn't even a switch part assigned for the right blank. If you could get a dealer to install cruise control on a European model, he'd probably have to use the standard cruise control switch on the left side, and swap the foglight switch to the right side (meaning it would toggle the wrong way).
