I was wondering what is the max mph just before you hit redline for each gear?

this was easier than i thought it would be- i searched "shift points":

from
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=70958

Mathematical shift points for the gears are:
1st - 43.2
2nd - 65.7
3rd - 90.9
4th - 116.1
5th - 139.5
6th - 166.5

That is if you shift exactly at 9000rpms. I keep a little sticker on my PC monitor at work to remind me all the time of those numbers... actually I only need to remember the first 3 gears since I'm not likely to be at 9K going 115 very often.

Do the calcs for 6k (multiply speeds by 6/9) to get the shift speeds for "normal" driving. This is also good for your break in period. I use these numbers for downshifting.

The downshift numbers are also good to know. Nice to know that as your slowing you can drop down and stay in control and in VTEC.

Enjoy,
JD

If you take these numbers to shift, you will over rev the engine every time because of the lag of the speed display and your own lag, anyway if I shift 2nd to 3th just on the edge of the redline, I have about 61 indicated, 3th to 4th about 87 (this with stock wheels and tires)

You won't find them replying gathering by the fact that they wouldn't be driving a working S2000 right now.

Slightly off the question, but I use a rule of thumb for downshifting to pass: >30 = 1st; 31 - 50 = 2nd; 51 - 70 = 3rd; and if over 71 - 90 = 4th (but haven't needed that yet i.e. if I'm in 6th (or 5th) and want to get in the VTEC range for passing, at 55 mph probably it's best to go to 3rd, but if 50 or less, 2nd is OK, less than 30 and 1st puts the most RPMs to work. I used the same calculator as above posts to look for 6500 RPM in each gear, then rounded it off.

this information is in the library - https://www.s2ki.com/article/articleview/15/1/31/

also, reverse tops out at 50mph, which has been GPS verified.
