what's the trick?
O.K. ....it seems nothing's easy. What's up with the plugs? When I try to push them in, the brass threaded nut seems to back out and won't receive the plugs prong. It doesn't appear that I can get behind it and hold it in place either. Anybody got a clue as to how to install them without disassembling the car? Thanks in advance

This happened to me, theres not good way of doing this. You will need to remove the entire bumper as the metal pieces on the inside have pushed back.
No other options to get them on right.
Take off the bumper, you will see what I mean.

happend on my car too. the plates are held by these tiny rubber studs, on of which was broken therefore not allowing me to push in the plug, or the bolt for the license plate frame. I had to take the bumper apart and pretty much glue the stud back in place.

If the brass nut has retreated too far into the bumper, carefully thread one of the license plate mounting bolts into the nut, and then pull it back toward the bumper.
If you want, use an xacto knife to trim the prongs of the plugs so they don't require as much effort to insert. Don't worry, they're not going to "pop off" at speed as long as there's some friction holding them in there.
I'm guessing this doesn't work for the S2k since nobody has suggested yet, but with my Integra, I could slip my hand in the air dam, and pull the styrofoam bumper piece toward me as I inserted the plugs, to make sure the brass nut didn't go anywhere.
Good luck!

I'd already considered pulling it back in place with one of the bolts. I don't unerstand why the things aren't just 4 bolts with painted heads. I may just go get bolts that thread into each hole with rounded heads and then just get some touch up paint from Honda and paint the heads....what Honda should have done to begin with.
