what's up with Honda in F1?

Have some faith, they'll figure it out.
Renault just won the Hungarian Grand Prix. It's been years, probably decades since Renault has won. They finally got it right, car and driver, for this last race.
Ferrari is having some difficulties right now with their cars. Barichello, the other Ferrari team driver, had his car's driveshaft & rear end explode on him during the race. Michael Schumacher finished 8th!
The changing of the guard at the finish line I think keeps all the manufacturers on their toes. Honda used to dominate years ago. Ferrari ruled last year. Honda will figure it out. It will be nice to see Honda on the podium again.

F1's a very funny business and it takes years for manufacturers to figure it out.
Look at the Hungarian GP - almost all the Ford/Cosworth engines died in that race, pretty spectacularly.
Yet they make all the engines for CART and their engines are being relabeled as Chevys for IRL, and obviously they don't all explode there...

The main problem for both Honda and Ferrari is their tires, Bridgestone. Just look at the top right eight finishers from last race. Only one Bridgestone runner, Michael's Ferrari, finished in the top eight, and eighth in this case. You can look at the results of the race or quali from last few races, same thing happened. Guys from Bridgestone always told the press that they will come with something better in the next race. Lies.......
The interview from last weekend's race, they said that they will come up with a completely new shape, some thing like the Michelin tire. Let's just wait and see. I think a BAR-Honda is better than the Toyota's TF103, if Bridgestone doesn't let Honda down.

Renault won races back in 1997 with Williams and now only in their 2nd year as full fabrics team they win a race and are on the podium now for two races in a row.
Honda is not what it used to be back in the 80's and the early 90's. Now Honda has problems with power output as well as with reliability. If that is not enough they also struggle to get their engine lighter. The current engine is one of the heaviest in F1.
Of course it matters that their car, the B.A.R is not so good and the tires that are tail r made only for the Ferrari makes it difficult for the BAR-Honda team.
Let's see now in Monza what kind of power there is in the Honda engine. Back in the 80's Honda killed the opposition there no matter car/tire/chassi.
HondaF1 is not what they used be, namely the best.

As far as giving them time, Honda has been "officially" in F1 now for at least 4 years, and has been going steadily backwards compared to the competition. Their F1 motor is underpowered, overweight, and not particularly reliable.
Honda *was* a dominating force over 10 years ago, but times have changed.
As far as the closest comparison team in terms of market (Toyota), Toyota is unquestionably superior in terms of power output and reliability.
Compared to the top teams go (Ferrari, BMW-Williams, Mercedes-Maclaren, and Renault) Honda's not even close.
Now with Jaguar coming on strong, Honda's chance of earning F1 points can only come from one of the better teams having a problem.
For years I've been waiting to see a Honda bring home an F1 victory... I can't wait anymore. They simply are not competitive.
Go Renault F1!
