Seriously buddy, not true. Just look at the poll itself, everyone seems to be experiencing different engagement points without modifying it.
mine kicks in at about 6200-6400, don't really know for sure. Psycho54 havent seen your car yet, would like to see the vafc. i live in west co too, off of grand.

I have to disagree with you here it is 5850. The best way to look at this would be on your dyno graph. My transition starts at 5850. We also need to remember here that the difference on the tach between 5850 and 6000 RPM in one fricking line. Not to mention who knows how accurate the tach is anyway. No one could tell the difference between 5850 and 6000. The VTEC engadgement is at 5850 on all S2k's in the US...I have read this on countless Honda News Breifs...I will try and find one for you.
Update:
Found it goto the following link and you will see
"These innovations have reduced valvetrain friction by approximately 70 percent, and improved engine torque characteristics by allowing the valvetrain changeover point to be set at a relatively low 5850 rpm. "
This is right off of Honda's news site.
It's 5800rpm (plus or minus a few.) Check out the results from our group dyno day - EVERYBODY'S engine engaged VTEC at the exact same rpm. When dealing with people's perceptions, there's always an amazing possibility for error. It's not the engines that are different, it's the people.

I live kind of right off of Grand or Cameron too, you don't drive the black one that I've been seeing around EVERYWHERE do you????
You're more than welcome to come by, PM me if you want to come check it out and we can arrange a time.
Although document evidence clearly shows that vtec should engage closer to 6,000 rpms, I find it odd that people are FEELING the kick at 6500 rpms while others are feeling it at 6,000. Even with human error, I know that I don't feel the kick at 6,000 rpms, rather later. If other owners are having theirs kick in at 6,000 and they can FEEL it right as it hits 6,000, that kind of makes me wonder what is going on.
True that the major jolt of vtec may vary on everyone's cars even when vtec is actually engaging at the same time.
So what is causing the variation? Oil? Temp? Humidity?
