Default Wheel Lock Removal Advice

Maybe this should go in Wheels and Tires forum, so Mods feel free to move it if it's more appropriate.

I've got a set of Honda locking nuts on my S and I want to swap my summers back. Unfortunately the shop lost the key and now I'm on my own. I had a tired plugged over the winter and they had to break off the lock to get it fixed. Now I don't care what happens to the rest of the locking nuts, I just need them off.

I've tried searching on here but "Ruby on Rails" is having issues and killing my searches.

Here is the advice I've found so far, I'd like a PM if there are any special little tricks though, please.

1) Try using a Gator Grip socket to fit into the locking grooves
2) Hammer a smaller socket on to the locking nut and remove with a breaker bar
3) Use a chisel to split the lock
4) Pay someone else to do it

Any other suggestions? I'm so mad at the shop for loosing the lock.

Find a shop that has one of these and pay them a couple bucks to remove them for you:

I think the Honda keys are universal. Borrow one from another owner and remove?

Maybe the best place to start looking is actually at a Honda dealer.

I have the original packaging but now that one of the locks is pooched I don't care if the rest are destroyed during removal.

That Snap-On tool is cool, a little costly to purchase for a single use unfortunately. S2Ki should buy one and let it travel around to different members with a $50 deposit

honda keys are indeed universal. you just need to find a lock and key similar to yours at your local stealership and purchase them. then you get the key and now 3 extra locks.

i know, my key fits perfectly into my buddy's tsx wheel locks... i could totall jack his wheels/tires

All dealerships have master sets to remove wheel locks, at least the Infiniti dealership where I work does, it will remove any wheel lock.
Just go by a dealership and ask nice they might just do it for free.

you'll need to show them proof of ownership of the car (duh) then they'll do it for free. i had mine from my previous EP3 removed they asked for paperwork.

Like others have said, there's a set of locks, its about 10 or so of them and every dealership should have the key to all of them. They're the same between Acura and Honda I believe too. My friend had an RSX-S and wanted his locking nut lugs taken off and the Acura dealership removed it for free. The mechanic brought out a little toolbox with a set of keys in there and he kept trying different ones till he found the one that fit.

Doesn't that make you feel safe?
