Default Wheel offset: What is ok?

I can't seem to find any wheels with the right offset (55 front, 65 rear). How far from these specs
can one go without any problem and what does it do to handling, suspension and so on if not
having the right offset? By the way I'm looking at 17" wheels for my S.

I would suggest the tire/wheel forum and lots of spare time. There are many opposing viewpoints on this topic. Mine are clearly stated so I won't go into them here. If you have a fat wallet, stick as close to the offsets as possible. If you're on a budget and don't drive the snot out of your car, you have a bit more flexibility with offsets, especially if you have no plans to lower the vehicle. Your questions should have plenty of answers "down the hall" in the Tire Rack-sponsored forum.
