Coming at this a different way-offset
Ok, I've got a good understanding of wheel width, tire width and offset. The problem is I don't have the stock OEM wheels to compare. The used MY03 I bought has aftermarket Stern wheels with too low an offset and too high a width and rubs (F-18x8.5, offset 48 and R-18x9.5 offset 48). Rears rub bad. The rears stick out like a sore thumb.
I know the proper offset to get based on wheel width, problem is there is a very limited selection of wheels, unless I want to spend $400-500 each.
I want to run 225/40 in front and 255/35 in rear. Tire manufactures minimum recommended wheel width is 7.5 front and 8.5 rear for that size.
Question: What's the minimum offset I can get away with and not rub in the rear? In other words, how much further out than stock can the wheels/tires go without rubbing? Will rolling the fenders help or be needed?
Thanks everyone!
