Parking garage in the NW burbs?

Where, which one? I need to stay informed of where in the burbs it's getting bad to leave your car.

Do you have any pics of the wheels so that we may know what to look for if we find anyone local?

Check us out at the upper midwest forums.

Let is know so we can keep an eye out for 'em.

Downtown Arlington Heights Vail Street Garage. I've lived there for almost 2years and other than one window broken on a Hyundai I've never seen anything out of sorts. The police said they've never had such a crime in the downtown area.

where would YOU leave it?!?

somewhere convenient where it may be useful in the future? oh... let's say with the toolkit and jack (where it makes most sense)?
Yet another reason why I have to stop procrastinating and do that mod where you switch the power wires for the power point and trunk switch.... making the power point always-on and the trunk switch only active with the car on.

Intresting development... Just found that the alarm is not working on the car. If I hit the panic button I get nothing, it used to work. The horn and all electrical works but no panic. They somehow disabled the alarm from inside the car; which they had gotten into by crawling through the hole in the roof. Once disabled they released the trunk and opened the doors. Anyone know this is possible?

Dude,

Sorry to hear that your wheels were stolen.... mine wasn't much better than yours as those bastards cut through my top for the seats!! That was back when I lived in Lisle/Naperville area, where there was almost no crime.... (well according to the police anyway)... long story short; total damage came out to be $12K It was a good thing (in retrospect) that mine was 1 of 6 cars that got hit that night and with police report and everything else my insurance paid out everything minus my deductible...

Arlington Heights, eh? I live close to Oakbrook now.... wanna go do some group driving sometime??

I take that you park in a garage? Maybe a car cover is on order to shield the stook from some prying eyes??

Thats a real bummer. Sorry to hear it.

about the advise on hiding the wheel key...I would leave it in the glovebox or somewhere accesable because if someone wants to find it and steal your stuff, chances are they will, and they will inflict more damage to your car tearing the interior apart looking for it.

I would invest in a good alarm with an interior siren as well as exterior. Viper makes one for $20 that will make your ears bleed if you are inside the car when it is activated.

Bottom line: if someone wants your stuff bad enough, they will find a (usually distrudestructiveto get it.

just my .02

If we started cutting thieves' hands off this sort of thing would stop.

Arlington Heights sucks,

I went to Mitsuwa for the first time and I got my first and only ding >< It cost me 78 bucks too because it was between door, wheel and top, which is really hard to get to for the ding removal.

Sorry to hear about your wheels. I'm sure most of us from the UMW forum will keep our eyes out for them though. Ironically just the other day I was thinking maybe I should take the wheel lock key and make it my "keychain" to prevent just such things from happening...hmmm I just might revist that thought.
