Shifting prematurely and lugging the engine is more harmful than anything.

I take it easy the first 25 min upon starting the car and then I don't touch the clutch under 4500rpms. A good shift is heard and not felt so practice not jerking the car between gears (upshifts or downshifts). This will also preserve your car longer.

I usually shift based on my spped. 1st to seccond at 20. 2nd to 3rd at 30 3rd to fourth at 40 and cruising locally above 50 in 5th. Seems to work well for me.

i think 3-5k is "normal" driving, going on the free way i usally take it up to 5-6k. Of course this doesnt count my spirited driving

For max pleasure: 9K!

under normal driving...i shift at 4k in every gear...and 8-9k under spirited driving
