Default When a dealer get a fresh s2000...

When a dealer get a fresh s2000, they have a checklist of stuff they have to do like remove plastics, check fluids, inspect stuff...do they typically wash the car after the removal of exterior plastics? Just wondering because I am anal =).

by the book they are supposed to go through that checklist, but they most likely just remove the protective tapes, wash it and give it some swirls.

Yup...

They will unless you ask them not to.

If you custom order it, you can tell them not to wash it.

I paid extra for my 07 because it was still wrapped in plastic, dealer had 2 of them, one unwrapped and one wrapped, I drove the unwrapped one and then requested the wrapped one

My complaint was the turpentine the guy started to put on my car after I removed the plastic, he was going to remove the sticky stuff left on the paint for me with turpentine. Most likely turpentine would not have harmed anything except taken what ever waxy stuff new paint has on it. I went through the checklist with the mechanic and I did the test drive that the mechanic has to do in order to sign off on the car.

It cost me $150 because the dealer would not give me the same price on the unwrapped one and I don't care

Most dealers DO NOT wash the car after PDI. The bigger dealers only wash the car once it is purchased, and have crews who pressure wash vehicles while they sit on the lot. If the car goes in the showroom, then it gets the full dealer detail

My car had 3 miles on it and was in the dealer showroom but it has zero (I mean none, zilch, nada) swirls or paint damage. I guess I lucked out. I usually I get my cars with the protective plastic still on the car so I know they can't mess up the paint.

The swirl marks are a no-cost option. I would drive it home and hand wash it.
