Was that a custom charcoal cabin filter?

I thought mine was bad but dayum!

 

i wish i had a pic of mine when i bought it with 30k on it. there were leaves in it and it was almost black. it was terrible.

 

If it gets bad enough, does it have the potential to clog anything? I haven't really looked at it up close yet, just curious.

 

No it won't clog anything if you have a dirty filter, but it will restrict the airflow. It works the same way as the air filter for the engine.

 

Wish I took pictures before I switched it.

I think the air always passes through the filter whether its recirc'd or not, and even if the fan is off, air is still passing through the filter as it flows through the car.

That filter catches everything...

 

I purposefully set my hvac to recirc when I have the top down and no fan on. In the hot humid summer, I use a/c, recirc, and top up to cut the humidity. Believe me, the filter lasts twice as long this way. I'm an engineer, so I have sadly thought this through
