No, you should never VTEC. Drive the car to the nearest Yugo dealer and trade it in on one.

You are kidding right? How did you manage to stay out of VTEC? I even slipped into VTEC during the break in (I'm not suggesting this is a good idea BTW). In fact as far as I'm concerned 0-6000 revs are just there to fill the space on the tacho before VTEC.

After 600 miles you can engage VTEC.

As far as when you first start your car, I generally wait for the car to warm up first (Until your heat indicator reaches 3 bars). Also, remember to check your oil on a consistant basis with this car. If your car doesn't VTEC, it's probably low on oil.

Hope that helps.

I think you need at least 2 more miles before you can VTEC.

Sheesh! Check the manual, it clearly states waiting for 600mi.

I don't know about yours, but mine won't VTEC without 3 bars on the temp gauge ..... I assume that is a built in safety thing by Honda ......

Thanks OC S2K for giving an honest answer. I'm assuming he either didnt get the owners manual or didnt really read it. We should just be glad he knew enough to wait til it was properly broken in before hitting vtec.

Congrats jtl03, now get out there and enjoy the car!!

You waited for 2500 miles ?!? It almost drove me nuts waiting for 600 miles to pass. You are a very patient man!
