I remember there was a thread about accessories not applicable to the 10 year after the last production year law. I've read about hardtops not being made anymore and getting more rare. Is it safe to assume the oem lip will be discontinued shortly or already has been?

 

It's already hard to get most lips, I know many colors of the ap2 lip are on national backorder. I dont know if theyre stopping production though. I recently ordered a second rio ap2 lip(extra one for this reason) and i had to wait until a month before they were off backorder and I got mine.

 

I think it's a law that car companies continue making accessories for cars even after 10-15 years of discontinuation. Don't quote me on this, though. I might be wrong.

Id imagine they would have to make at least black hard tops until 2019 for the CR's... its a replacement part for them as opposed to an accessory...

 

 

the parts manager at my dealer told me that it is quite common for Honda to stop making accessories on old models, and the s2k will not be any different. Some accessories are already very limited in terms of colour choices.

 

Black hardtops are not accessories as they were used for the CR.....so they will continue this color for the required period. There is another thread about it if you search.
