I test drove a nice Silverstone/Red 2001 today, and would like to have it checked out by a good shop. There is a Honda dealership pretty close to the seller's house (seller is about 45 miles from me), and I was wondering if it would be the best place to take the car. If not, should I find a local shop with a good reputation/rating and schedule an appointment?

Also, what, specifically, should I ask them to check? Of course the tranny, shifting, engine, etc. But should I have them do a compression test as well? If so, what are normal numbers? Any other tests?
