Default Where can I get a long block?

I have been doing all kinds of research on boosting my car and everyone tells me that I should build my motor before boost. So I thought hell might as well search around for a long block tear it down and throw in some forged pistons/rods and crank cam the head add some studs and walla bad ass super strong f20c!!!! Of coarse its not just that easy those things coste money but a long block is a start..

For one, our pistions are already forged. You should also sleave the motor.

You can buy a junked motor fairly cheap. But it will be in parts. Good Long block you can fine. Trashed ones are rare.

Did you look in the "For Sale" forum? Occasionally people are selling motors in there. One with slight scarring of the cylinder walls might be perfect for you, since you're going to want to re-sleeve it anyway. Make sure it has a good crankshaft, though, unless you plan on re-using your crank or buying an aftermarket one.

From what I understand, certain types of pistons don't like certain types of material for cylinder walls. I believe re-sleeving will open him up to a wider variety of piston choices. Also, I believe iron sleeves are recommended for boost as they're stronger than the aluminum cylinder walls and therefore hold up to the increased pressure better.

I'm not an engine builder, though, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Yeah think the iron sleeves are the best...as the WRC engines are forged iron, hold crazy pressures!

You can do a whole lot of FI with the standard motor. Check the FI forum.
