Longshot maybe- The previous owner threw a bunch of change under the console cover. you just turned a frustrating dilemma in to an exciting treasure hunt. Well played

Well, now I'm hoping he stashed his life's savings back there somewhere, haha.

You checked the compartment above the middle console? Most owners do not even know about it. It has about a foot of sliding area.

When I got my top replaced they cut the rivets that secured the elastic straps and left bits and pieces of the rivet in the rib. Now anytime I take a hard turn I can hear the rivets moving around. You may have the same issue.
I was going to drill a small hole in the rib and drop some epoxy in there to catch the debris.
Don't DRILL!! The rib is hollow and only capped off by two rubber caps on either end, take off both caps and just blow through it with compressed air.

What about the area behind the driver where the motors are for the soft top?

What's the best way of gaining access to this area...what panels should I remove?

Does it have a newer top?

If the top was replaced in the past, sounds like it could be rivets stuck in the frame moving around.
it's probably this.

This is the case with mine...you hear it around turns. it's a little tinkling sound as the little pieces roll from side to side. I haven't had time to clean it out yet, but I plan on it.

same problem here. One of the 4 metal pieces where the rear tray is fell off, and rolled into the hole where the top's motors are. Everytime i turn, i hear it. Anyone know how to get it out? I've tried sticking my hand there and all I get out of it is a hella scratched up hand lol.
