Where Did my V-Tec Go?
Bob,
I wouldn't take my car to be serviced by someone who doesn't know what the VTEC solenoid is.
Have you verified for sure that your VTEC is not engaging? With the airbox cover off, the difference is literally night and day -- the change in sound level can't possibly be missed if the solenoid is working.

Warren-
No I have not done that test as yet. I did check the solenoid connections and they seem somewhat "wobbly" but nothing is actually disconnected. I hear you about the knowledge but that is the service writer, the mechanics are pretty good judging from the transmission and clutch work. I will do the airbox thing tonight, I am not driving my S2K today so I will do it when I get home. Thanks again

Bob when you are facing the engine the VTEC module can be found on the your left up by the valve cover. The above picture is small, but you can just see it above the number 6 in the picture name ! It's located on the corner and is a small cylinder ( a wire is running next going to the head cover) a little larger than a man's thumb in an upright position . Hope this helps !
Bob,
If you have recently had the oil changed, I would suggest that your dealer did not use the correct amount to replace your old oil. The S2000 service manual is incorrect in the amount of oil it reads. Check the FAQ section for the correct amounts. Lack of vtec has come up before and it has always been caused by low oil level. Be sure to do a search (or look in the FAQ) about the best way to check your oil level too.
Good luck,
James
