Does anybody know how many S2000's were made for the 2001 model year i heard rumors that just over 9,000 made it into production, maybe i have the last one that was made for 2001 being #9239

Sorry....... my Silver/Red is a 2001 #9378. I doubt I had the last 2001 made. Mine arrived in Georgia on the 27th of August.

I know I have one of the last ones made and my VIN ends in 9720. It arrived here in town on 9/25/01. This isn't the complete answer as far as the total world wide production is concerned, but it does show the year to date sales of all of the Honda models in the US. http://www.hondanews.com/forms/corp/sales/oct01.html

The total for the S2000 is 8468, as of October 1st, 2001. I'm not sure if Honda keeps a sequential number for ALL of the S2000's produced or if they keep track of the numbers by the country that it is going to. If they sold 8,468 here in the US and we get 50% of the total production for the world, then the VIN should be a lot higher than mine. They must keep track of the numbers by the destination countries.

It just occured to me that their numbers do not add up. My car was made in August of 2001 and the VIN is higher than the sales figures indicate?
