It should be as high up as possible and free from anything blocking the sensors in the front or back. I think centered to.
I have a Passport and its right under my rear view mirror.

I personally loathe anything on my windshield so I mounted it via adhesive velcro to the dash directly over the right side driver vent. It makes running the power to the fusebox by the left foot pretty simplistic.

Even though its hardwired you can still unplug the unit itself. It depends on where I park if I remove it or not.

in Ontario , the O.P.P. can detect any radar warning device using Spectre RDD

however, i dunno if police use this in la belle province ?

I have mine located there as well. Hard-wired, of course.
