Where to look for an s2k?
On autotrader and many other sites, set up an alert to text you if a new "S" gets posted to the site and matches your "saved" search criteria (distance from home, color, etc).
Also, statewidelist.com is a very good way to search all the craiglist sites for a state with one just query. Just put in S2000 in search, select "Cars + Trucks" from the drop down and check off the box that says "Title Only". If you don't, you will get a lot of results in your search for people selling vehicles other than S2000's as many sellers tag S2000 in their ads to get more people looking at the ad.

Expand your search!
Making a trip the right car is worth it (driving it home is a blast).
I'm in west Texas, and found mine in Fort Worth. I got a daily driver last summer in Houston (flew down and drove it home).
If anything, at least check Houston and Austin since you are so close to both.

I live up in the Dallas area and I was looking around all the major cities, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, even Tekarkana. There are a solid number of S2000's in Texas, even with my low budget, unfortunately I was only really been looking at AP1's between 90-130,000 miles because everything else is took expensive. After about 7 weeks I managed to find one with some minor cosmetic damage and the roof was shot but the car was mechanically strong and the frame perfect as well, with only 100,000 miles! Craigslist is your friend, and if I hadn't expanded outside of my home city I never would have found one.
Good Luck with your search, the drive home really is a blast.
Thank yall for all the help. Im going to keep searching and keep my nose in the market, but im going to save a little more to be able to afford an s2k with low miles in very good condition. Just seems like the right thing to do since i will be driving my s2k until the wheels fall off haha
