An exhaust will put a smile on your face, wait for the gears so you will appreciate the change!

This is excellent advice. You might consider spending your first dollars on an autocross school or some track days: learn to drive the car the way it is before you start changing it.
Also excellent advice.

Locate a local SCCA group, do some autocrossing, and if you can, attend an Evolution school. You'll be amazed at what your car can do, and the things you can do with it. Learn what the stock machine can do, and then you'll have a much better idea of the kinds of changes you want to make.

That said, I love induction noise, and a CAI like the AEM V2 sounds absolutely wonderful on the S2000. It's not a lot of money, and I thoroughly enjoyed my V1 when I had it on the car. The intake won't make any real difference in the cars performance, but it makes engine access easier, and it makes neat sounds. If you just can't wait to make changes, make small ones until you learn to get the most out of what you already have.

thanks for all the responses so far Ive read them all and definately taken some things into consideration. I think Im going to save up for a bit. I recently found a connection through my dealer with the parts manager who also works for comptech, so thats something Im thinking of as well. Either way Ill definately keep you guys posted and if you have any other suggestions with what kinds of exhaust or anything else in general I appriciate all of the help and knowledge!

Comptech is going out of business...so don't bank on that connection for much.

I agree...autox so you can learn the limits...we don't want to see you like so other new owners with a wrecked car.

Gears are best bang for the buck. Next a VAFC will help an early ap1 most.

take some time and learn your car before you do anything to it and in mean while start saving some $ for mods. and when you learn your car and got enough cash, i say first thing suspenion, and if it's your DD then def no boost. after suspension i'd start with i/h/e/tp and perhaps VAFC n decent tuning.

so no go on a s/c or t/c? I was talking to a buddy and he said to just save up and boost it because if I get an exhaust and then go turbo I might have to get a whole other exhaust. What are good gears to get 4.77? I honestly dont know too much about that.
